Our Story
Our Story
Over thirty years we have carefully introduced vinyl flooring, curtains, blinds and rugs to our business, offering our customers more of the products they want to choose, under one roof.
We take great care in selecting our product ranges, to offer exceptional value for money, along with good wearing qualities and long lasting appearance retention.
We offer plenty of advice and help, to allow our customers to make a well informed decision.
After selecting the products you like, we can arrange to visit your home to measure, and then we submit a written quotation before you make any commitment. We don’t make follow up calls, and there is certainly no pressure!
Along with our membership of the British Shops & Stores Association, and the Carpet Foundation, we are very proud to announce that we conduct our business to strict Office of Fair Trading (OFT) Standards and have have been awarded OFT approval for our high standards of service, business conduct and good practices.
The History...
Southam Carpets Ltd is a family business, established on the 2nd of June 1979.
The business was initially started as a partnership with another carpet fitter. But following the departure of the other partner in 1982, Jim Steele carried on and continued to grow and develop the business and its reputation.
Jim had worked all his life with carpets, starting as an apprentice carpet fitter at Woodwards (department store in Leamington Spa) in 1953.
Having pursued an active career in retail and installation, Jim retired in 1998, passing the reins to his two sons Andrew and Michael, who were already actively involved in the business for a good number of years.
Andrew and Michael have continued with, and built upon, the tradition of high service levels and attention to detail.
Early 2007 saw a major investment in new warehousing, stock and vehicles, and the showroom was also fully refitted to give a more spacious and lighter environment for customers to enjoy.
This major investment in stock holding means we can now offer a greater range of carpets at even better prices.
